I'm happy to report that my first ever party last Saturday went really well. My hostess showed up with one guest. And, the very first local lady I gave an invite to showed up as well, so it ended up being me, Rayne, the hostess and her sister, and one other guest. Small, intimate, and totally FUN!
Since the group was so small, I felt like I really got to get into the product demonstration part and everybody was totally comfortable asking questions and chatting. The only complaint I got from anyone was that "You don't have enough toys!" *lol*
About 10 minutes before the party started, the waitresses at the restaurant where we booked the conference room started coming in to check out the display. Several of them wanted catalogs, business cards, and information so I got them some goodies to take home with them. And, after that, the word apparently spread quickly through the whole restaurant because about 15 minutes into my presentation we had a couple ladies burst through the doors, loudly announcing, "We heard you have ball gags in here!!"
I told them that, actually, I didn't have any ball gags with me, but I did show them my Bondage 101 game (they proceeded to use the included paddle to SPANK each other!), let them check out my display, and gave them some catalogs before they went back to dinner. They were in and out so fast, I didn't even get a chance to ask them to leave their contact info or to sit down and join us!
So, after taking a few minutes to compose myself and remember what the heck I'd been talking about before they arrived, I went back to my demonstration. Thankfully, everyone had a good laugh over the whole thing. I made the joke before I got going again that, "Well, I certainly couldn't have planned THAT for you!"
We went back to the presentation, played a game, and were in the midst of starting some of more wild products when the party crashers CAME BACK because they wanted to see the vibrators and lubes I had! One of them ended up buying my give-away bullet vibrator and would have taken my lube if I'd had a bigger bottle!!
All in all, even though there weren't a lot of us, it was a LOT of FUN for everyone!! I ended up with 3 guests, 2 bookings, and one order. Not bad for it being so small. So, I'm thinking about having another open house party in late April or early May.
Thanks to everyone who wished me luck and sent other networking ideas! I feel like things are finally starting to come together!!
